Drawing and Design For Tattooing & Tattoo Shop Basics
12 weeks, 1 class per week
This is a tattoo design and portfolio development class. Students will learn to apply basic concepts of drawing and design as it relates to tattooing as well as the basics of client management, customer relationships, sanitation and tattoo shop practices. Designs will be critiqued on a weekly basis with minimum requirements to be met upon completion. Tattoo Machine use and tattooing does not happen during this class, but the portfolio development done in this course is required before progressing into an apprenticeship.
Each week will consist of:
1 class of 3 hours of instruction and design.
After competing this 3 month course, students will be eligible to move on to part 2 of the apprenticeship program.
Course Objectives
Students will:
Develop an art portfolio for use as a tattoo artist while practicing fundamental tattoo art and design skills to launch your career as a tattoo artist
Get an in depth look at the tattoo industry, what it’s like to work at a shop, and how to become your own boss
Learn client management, marketing & customer relationships to build your personal brand as an artist.
Learn shop sanitation practices and guidelines
Practice time & stress management skills for success
Understand tattoo drawing industry tools; digital and analog
Practical application of designs on paper using colored pencil, microns/markers
